| Question: Could you please tell me the story about Lost Sheep? Maxine Raines, Executive Director of Lost Sheep Ministry, spent time on the streets during her childhood. Because of this experience she has great compassion and understanding of the needs of the homeless. The vision for this ministry was given to Maxine in 1990 at an Aglow International Conference in Washington, D.C. as she saw the depths of despair that was in the lives and faces of the many on the streets in our nation's capital. She brought this vision back to the East Tennessee Area Board of Aglow International, which she served on as Vice President of Ministries, and thus Lost Sheep Ministry was established. The mobile ministry which started out small, with only one person accompanying Maxine on the streets, grew quickly, and it became evident that Lost Sheep Ministry needed to become a nonprofit organization of its own. Today, the ministry provides free Christian rehabilitation for the drug and alcohol addicted. Question: Who do you serve? The homeless and at risk youth in Knoxville and surrounding counties. Question: How can I volunteer? Please call the ministry office number, 865-688-9636, to learn about where you might fit in best in serving. Question: Whare are you greatest needs? Food, clothing, and finances to send people to addiction recovery programs. |
